hi, i got bitten by a dog on the 24th of august19. the wound is on my left lower leg. the bruising and swelling has gone down. i am worried that its still swollen after such a long time. i got my tetanus and rabies shots. is the swelling normal?

Not normal: It's not at all normal for there to be swelling where you were bitten by a dog on Aug 24, 2019. It appears that you may have a serious infection which needs to be treated. Animal bite infections are often caused by many types of bacteria. I suggest you go to a medical clinic or Urgent Care center immediately for proper evaluation and treatment. Varicose veins: The heart pumps blood, under great pressure, out into the arteries, but the blood must return to the heart in veins, which are thinned walled. There is no pump on the return, vein side, and as we get older, some veins bulge and swell, and even leak fluid into the local skin. These are varicose veins and they may cause swelling or a bulge on the lower leg. Keep your legs up, and see your doctor.

sitting in my a&p class a week from this past tuesday and felt some discomfort in my left lower leg. i pulled the pant leg up there was a huge bruise, swelling and soreness.was it acapillary that rupt?

How do you feel : Now?  Is the swelling and pain better? Do you have any prior injury at the area? If no prior injury and the prior signs are at the calf, you may have a deep vein thrombosis. Keep leg elevated and see a physician asap. A simple doppler ultrasound will help to r/o superficial vs deep cases.

Infection: If any increase in redness, red streaks, tenderness, drainage, or fever, see your doctor right away for treatment of an infection. If it's getting better, simply rest and avoid prolonged standing/walking until it resolves.

Either: Is a possibility. If you strike your lower leg hard and it swells certainly the blood can come from soft tissue trauma to the muscles, tendons or even a ruptured blood vessel.  If it is fractured you would likely know it as you would most likely not be able to walk. It depends also where you injured it on your leg. You can have a chip or non-displaced fracture that bleeds as well. Ice, nsaids etc.

Unlikely: Epidural injections don't directly affect peripheral extremities or cause swelling.

i hit the top of foot by outside ankle 2 days ago. very little swelling and bruising. now aches from big toe up to back lower leg. could i be broken?

Soft tissue trauma.: An x-ray can be used to identify most fractures for sure. So, removing all doubt would necessitate having an x-ray. My take is that you have managed to traumatize either a nerve or tendon passing through the area. Unfortunately an x-ray won't show these problems. supposedly have crps in lower leg but i disagree--have pain for 5 years and there is noticeable swelling in area. wouldn't there be atrophy by now?

CPRS has diff stages: CRPS is a very complex diagnosis with varied presentations.Typically it made w/complex tests/blocks meaning that you should be worked up for more common diagnoses such as sciatica with an EMG, muscle spasm &amp; restless leg syndrome which are on the differential. That said,a triple phase bone scan or stellate block can help diagnose CRPS.I suggest you see a PMR or Neurologist to confirm the diagnosis

recently had knee surgery. i have noticed that the swelling in my lower leg is beginning to harden... it is a bit soft but still firm. what is this?

Calf hardness: Increase in calf swelling and hardness post knee surgery can be cause for concern, notify your surgeon so you can be evaluated
