Polycystic ovarian: syndrome, see an OBGYN, that does work with this problem, or an endocrinologist. This can be treated.

DHEAS: DHEAS is a precursor to testosterone.  Even though T is in normal range, it is best to have your DHEAS in normal range also.  Please see an endocrinologist.  He/she will look at the entire picture of hormones and help you.  Peace and good health.

? PCOS: Have you been evaluated for pcos?. This is the most common cause of the symptoms you describe and may be treatable with birth control pills and a testosterone blocker. It is a good idea to have a full evaluation by a reproductive or medical endocrinologist  before starting treatment.

i am interested in trying dhea supplements for libido and erectile dysfunction. does dhea cause hair loss (which i am worried about)? what dosages would you recommend? 25mg, 50mg, etc. 32 year old male?

: That may not do anything for libido or hair loss. This is not standard treatment for those things. Knowing why you have poor libido is important. A virtual visit with a physician would be a good idea.

i'm 50, post-menopause, both ovaries removed, no hrt, and my dhea is 476. i have hair loss, oily skin, acne. is my dhea high? is this an adrenal issue

High DHEAS: You might have a type of genetic enzyme defect from birth that could result in this, or you could have a small growth on your adrenal gland (ovary much less likely) producing excess hormone. You need to see an endocrinologist to sort this out - it is sometimes not easy.

will low iron levels cause hair loss?

Yes, iron deficiency: Can result in hair loss. Other common symptoms are pica (craving eating ice or dirt), headaches, fatigue and shortness of breath with exercise. An over the counter iron supplement taken every day along with Vitamin C to aid with absorption should help. Talk with your doctor to find out why you are iron deficient, and work on resolving the underlying cause as well. Best wishes to you!

No: A low ferritin dose not cause hair loss, however in  iron deficiency which leads to low ferritin patients may have hair loss.  This can be observed in patients with iron deficiency without anemia.
