Neurologist: A neurologist is best to evaluate the white matter changes in your brain and neck ct scans and interpret them in light of your neurological symptoms and examination. A brain MRI may give more information. Concern would be for a condition like multiple sclerosis.

: Not feasible to interpret the films in absence of images.  Although could be arachnoid cyst, prior site of injury, etc  best to ask your doctors, who know you best.

MRI report: This is language used in radiology to describe what they see.  Ordinarily, they cannot distinguish a small stroke (lacune) from a perivascular space.  A "puntate lacune" though is very small.  It is probably just the side view of a blood vessel (aka perivascular).  Do you smoke?  Do you have high blood pressure?  Do you have diabetes mellitus?  Atrial fibrillation?  These are stroke risk factors.

what does 'prominent soft tissue density in the cervical region demonstrating low attenuation on post-contrast imaging' mean on a pelvic ct report?

Accepted Answer

Hard to say: It means that your cervix is somewhat dark appearing on the scan. The cervix can have many appearances all of which can be normal. Just follow up with ob/gyn for a pelvic exam but most likely it's nothing.

hi, a recent ct scan of my kidneys shows: areas of high density seen on kidney, there are some odd areas of increased attenuation in left renal area, number of small opacities in pelvis, no renal stones. can anyone please explain what this means? thx?

See below: All imaging results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. You may wish to talk to the radiologist who read the CT.

what could a shadow on brain ct mean? i got a ct and the results were "shadow, irregular low density area on the frontal left lobe." (i have to wait a week to get my mri, so i'm wondering if it's likely serious. i don't have any symptoms.?

: That is an unusual word to describe a finding in a brain CT. It may be a  transcription mistake or even a scan artifact, and you should ask  your Doctor that ordered the test for further explanation.  There is not much to do immediately, and  you should wait until you get the MRI results before worrying too much.

Depends...: Depends on where in the body it is what structure it is referring to - like a lymph node, in an organ,  outside an organ or lymph node region, or in the subcutaneous tissues.  I would need more information to expand more.

: The cited report does not indicate any area of pathological involvement.  Therefore, the findings are indeed NORMAL!

Cysts: That typically represents cysts. Bilateral cystic disease can be either a normal variant if a small number and age of the patient, or polycystic kidney disease.
