Low BP and insomnia: Keep discussing your symptoms with your dr. As adequate sleep is paramount to functioning well throughout the day.  Getting your sleep disorder treated is important and getting an evaluation as to why you have low BP is also important, as that can be treated too, hopefully making you more alert.  Good luck.

: Your blood pressure is normal and it would not be higher during sleep. Unless you have day time drowsiness, you have not stated any symptoms that would warrant a sleep study. A usual sleep study does not monitor blood pressure.

Normal : Low blood pressure during sleep and morning hours is normal. If you don't feel dizzy, no worries!

Accepted Answer

BP dip: Our blood pressures normally dip at night.  This is a normal cycle. BP also declines after eating. This is due to blood pooling in our intestinal vessels for digestion and absorption. Be careful. Don't overeat in the evening. Perhaps you need a bit more salt. Measure BP lying then standing a few days in a row -- both am and pm times and before bed. This will provide data for your doctor.

is it true that taking a bath late at night can give you low blood pressure?

Maybe: A hot bath can vasodilate and cause blood to pool in feet. Whe you get up you can get a very low BP . You can feel light headed as well. Usually passes when cool down and after lying down. A tepid bath and good hydration may help avoid theses.

Bp: Typically BP and heart rate are lowest at night and sleep periods. This doesn't mean there couldn't be a problem but it makes it less likely.

Could be: certainly could be.  Monitor your blood pressure over the next few days, drink plenty of fluids, and if the double vision comes back you should have evaluation with your primary doc.

Don't worry.: Blood pressure usually is lowest late evening and with early sleep.  Paradoxically, it raises in the early morning (7am-10am).  This is called arousal activation of the nervous system.  Don't worry, unless you have sx.  Also, if you are on BP meds, many are evening dosed to prevent the moring rise!

i'm woken in the night by my heart racing so fast. what could this be. i have low blood pressure and have just started taken toprimate.

Several things maybe: It could be anything from anxiety to nightmares to the thrill of having watched Peter Pan live on NBC the other night and realizing that two of the actors in the production were from Cleveland, Ohio (where I live). Or, it certainly could be a side effect of the topiramate if you have only been taking that medication for a few days or a few weeks and this started right after it.
