However, there have been a few case reports about Clonazepam irritating the liver [none about Ativan] and therefore it would be considered slightly harsher.Their effect on the liver is  probably due to a rarely produced intermediate metabolite.

Xanax (alprazolam): Lorazepam is similar to Xanax (alprazolam) in that it has a short half life  which means it seems to work faster but doesn't last as long,   This makes these more addictive.  Klonopin and Tranxene have a longer half life which takes longer to work but lasts much longer and is still addictive but less so.

Under guidance of md: Sedative dependencies are, by definition, dangerous should the drug be stopped abruptly. A knowledgeable physician needs to prescribe the drug, be aware of the potential for dependency in that particular person, follow them closely, never refill a prescription without a face-to face visit, know the signs of and potential for dependency each case. Do not try to phase this out on your own. C ur doc.

Lorazepam 1 mg = : 0.25  md clonazepam. Therefore, 2 mg of Klonopin would equal 8 mg of lorazepam. Additionally, Klonopin will leave your system much more slowly than lorazepam, so the overlap may help initially and you could actually find yourself over sedated since the Klonopin will hang around for about 50-300 hours whereas the Lorazepam will hang around 40-hrs to 5 days. Overall you will likely feel some withdrawal. Best wishes.

Generally: ... The shorter the effect, the more addictive the compound is.  Klonopin (clonazepam) has a longer effect than ativan.
