Maybe: IBS is caused by a dysregulation of intestinal motility, but we don't know why it effects someone with diarrhea and someone else with constipation.  The problem with using loperamide is that it can intentionally slow intestinal motility and you may morph from IBS-D to alternating diarrhea and constipation.

We don't: you are right--we don't use anti motility drugs for infectious diarhoea.it should be allowed to run its course.if needed we use peptobismol--a bismuth salt for binding.

If your gastroenterologist is following you for ibs diarrhea-type, then this may be part of the therapy plan. But i would need more context to provide more detailed direction/recommendations. No, you have Crohn's: You may be describing symptoms of poorly controlled or flaring crohn's. Plugging up diarrhea doesn't fix the problem, as you've learned. Ignoring crohn's in favor of treating just it's symptoms places you at risk.  Return to your GI doctor to discuss appropriate evaluation ; intensified treatment.
