No: Taking a single pill of any birth control will not suffice as emergency contraception, especially one that is low dose like LoEstrin

Easier ways: Sure but Plan B is available over the counter. It is more effective and causes less nausea since it does not contain estrogen. The easiest thing to do is to buy this over the counter and take it within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse.

NONE: The suggests these as effective, 1 dose within 72 hrs and 1 dose 12 hrs after 1st dose: ovral (ethinyl estradiol and norgestrel) (1 dose is 2 white pills), Alesse (1 dose is 5 pink pills), nordette or levlen (1 dose is 2 light orange pills), lo/ovral (ethinyl estradiol and norgestrel) (1 dose is 4 white pills), triphasil or tri-levlen (1 dose is 4 yellow pills).  Alternatively, buy one of the commercially available kits (eg, planb).

EC: Although there are at least a dozen types of birth control pills that can be dosed as an emergency contraceptive, I can find no source that includes Loestrin among them.  Perhaps someone else has a regimen, but I recommend getting Plan B or the like to ensure you get the maximum benefit.

Plan B : Anyone having intercourse without birth control or condoms may get pregnant. If intercourse was within 72 hours you consider taking plan b. Ella (ulipristal acetate) is another brand that can be used up to 5 days after unprotected intercourse. Plan b is a high dose of birth control to disrupt the hormonal patterns to delay or prevent ovulation. Abnormal bleeding after is common. Check  preg test in 10 days.

: The general rule is that irregular spotting during the 1st 3 cycles of a new contraceptive is considered normal, &amp; most of the time you are protected after the 1st full month if you don’t miss any pills- but no birth control method is 100% guaranteed

: No, it means the opposite,  that it's being a good birth control agent. You can only have a true period if you ovulate, so no period means you are not ovulating. While not having a period is less common with "lo" dose pills, it certainly can happen.
