Muscle spasm: Most likely you're having a spasm of the large chewing muscle on the right side of your head. When these muscles spasm the pain can be very intense as if someone is sticking an "ice pick" in your head. If you chew gum, stop. If you clench or grind your teeth you may want to see a dentist. Above all try softer foods for a while.

Migraine: Is a serious and complex neurologic disorder. Headache, insomnia, visual disturbances nausea, sensitivity to light or sound, paresthesias during the episodes. Steroids medications are used as a prophylactic drugs for chronic migraine. Rec. See an orofacial pain or headache specialist for evaluation and proper diagnostic and management.
