Hair LosS: Fatty liver &  hair loss are not directly related. Hair loss may be due to hormonal factors, thyroid disorder, hair products, medications, skin diseases, scalp infections, etc .  See your doctor for evaluation.

PCOS: Polycystic ovary syndrome can be associated with fatty liver, high triglycerides, low hdl, high risk for diabetes, irregular periods, hair in unwanted areas and also male pattern hair loss.  Insulin resistance is a common factor among the symptoms. Resulting high Insulin levels interfere in normal menstrual cycles, allowing for more testosterone like hormones to build up causing hair loss in some.

Any change: Actually any change in your body, even a good change like weight loss, can cause a temporary increase in the normal rate of hairs falling out. But this is a short phase, and when the hairs grow back, your hair will be as full as ever.

Rapid weight loss: The hair loss is more likely due to the rapid weight loss. Also make sure you are getting enough protein as this could also lead to hair loss. As your weight loss slows down yoir hair will come back. You can also try biotin. It works for some.

Biotin: Is a b vitamin (co-enzyme) necessary for fat and carbohydrate metabolism.  Take the recommended amount and your kidneys and liver will thank you.

Worrying does't help: I am worried about your 62 lb weight loss in 6 months. You need a good evaluation. No one can guess what you have until a good history and physical done with some blood tests and scans.

See your doc: Unintended weight loss can be seen with infections, inflammation, parasites, cancer, overactive thyroid, depression, other. Hair loss can be from weight loss, mineral or vitamin deficiencies or above mentioned factors.

Ask your doctor!: I really can't speak for your doctor. Obviously he/she feels the benefits of Methimazole for you at this time outweighs the stress it is placing on your liver. Other doctors might have a different opinion- this is a judgement call. Ask your doc & if not satisfied seek a second opinion. There are other treatments available but mild elevations tend to be temporary. Herbs like milk thistle may help.

i just started nutrafol for hair loss but just read that one of the ingredients l-methionine can cause liver toxicity and heart problems. i am having mild stomach cramps. should i be concerned about taking it and the ingredients that could harm me?
