i had lis a month ago, for a fissure. since surgery my anus still feels numb. are nerve endings damaged by this? is this permanent? will it go away?

An: This could be small nerve fiber injury just as its possible to have numbness with any incision in the skin. It could get better but nerves grow very slowly.

negative for chrohn's. had surgery for fissures but acquiring new ones. what other diseases could cause this?

Multiple issues: proctitis, cryptitis,, hemorroiditis, anal infections. rectal manipulation/penetration. I suggest anoscopy and colonoscopy. Sitz baths ( 2 lbs Epsom salts in 6 inches warm water ) baths 4x/day and cortisone anal creams.Certainly a GI evalaution and exam.

i've had fissures for 7~ years and they come and go...is there anyway other than surgery so they permanently go?

Yes: Avoiding constipation and not spending a lot of time sitting on the toilet may help.

Accepted Answer

Different: Different conditions, different treatments. Hemorroihd veins observed and treated by avoiding constipation or straining, or surgical removal of the veins (banding, excision, stapling). Fissure observed with avoiding constipation, medical treatment like Nitroglycerin or botox, or surgical internal muscle sphincterotomy.

Accepted Answer

If minor, ...: anal fissures are treated medically. Stool softeners are used to help have easier bowel movements. Hemorrhoidal creams or ointments are helpful for wound healing and soothing. Simple pain medications, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen may be helpful.

is it safe to have 1-2 alcoholic drinks while using nifidepine ointment to treat fissures? taking medicine temporarily until i have surgery.

Ask your ob-gyn doc: The things in life tends to continually pile up attesting: Life is a one-way street of accumulation, modification, and continuation. Your surgical history in genito-anal region as reported may increase the odd to have childbirth-related vaginal injury, but not an absolute contraindication for vaginal delivery. To decide if reasonably to proceed with vaginal delivery, it is logical to ask your doc.

can anal fissures vaginal fissures be related to the same cause? can spasm from sphincter cause a vaginal fissure? unsure of sphincterectomy surgery.

Vaginal fissure : Are not related to anal fissure. Anal caused by the sphincter too right and tearing when you have bm. Sphincterotomy can be effective, but would reccomend stool softness and topical nitrate creams first, followed by Botox injections if that doesn't work. Sphincterotomy is last measure because of risk of incontinence.  Vaginal tears are caused by trauma, especially if there is little lubricants.

i have hemorrhoids anal fissures  gastroenterologist gave me ointment symptoms keep returning do i get surgery? i have soft stool have appt wednesday

Wait for appointment: Conservative treatment is usually preferred for these issues as there is no guarantee that surgery will make everything rosy.  I'd wait to see what your GI doctor says on Weds.

can pruritis ani contribute to getting anal fissures? had surgery, eat a high fiber diet, take softeners and still get reoccurring fissures. what now?

Pruritis: prurutis ani is itching due to irritation. If you still having repeated anal fissure, you might want to see gastroenterologist to make sure you don't have fistula to suggest Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis
