Water and salts: Generally most colon preps are made of water and a mix of salts to both replace those expected to be washed out by the prep, but also to make it "neutral", so your body chemistry will not change much with the large volumes of fluid ingested. Substances to change the taste are also generally used too, although most peolpe still say it tastes terrible :(.

im having a colonoscopy thursday at 1 pm i cant eat my dr office said to take my metoprololo will it make   me sick without food i can drink liquids?

Bowel prep : Bowel preparation for colonoscopy usually involves a liquid diet the day before. Call the doctors office that is doing the colonoscopy to find out about what you can and cannot drink. They will set you right. Hope this helps!

i need a list of clear sodas with caffeine due to drinking clear liquids for a colonoscopy on the 6th of april. the problem is i need caffeine to help?

Define clear liquids: "Clear liquids" are any food that is not solid at room or body temperature that will allow sunlight to pass through: ice pops, jello, broth or juices without particulates, soda, water, light tea. Avoid red-dyed foods that may leave residue that looks like blood to the colonoscopist. Confirm your selection with the performing doctor--you don't want to have to re-do the test due to a bad prep.

Colonoscopy: You should be able to drink clear soup or other liquids, but check with your gastroenterologist.

No: This can lead to residues and inadequate prep.

Keep drinking: Finish all liquid, and you will probably be ok. As long as the liquid is watery and without solids you should be ok.

can i drink simply lemonade or arizona iced green tea with ginseng and honey the day prior to a colonoscopy? are these acceptable clear liquids? they are not on the list my dr provided?

: Unless you want o do prep again I would follow "exactly" what is on list.  Most do not want to do it again in my experience.

No: should have no effect. Hope you aer well as it's unusual
for someone your age to have a colonoscopy

Yes: In fact, most facilities where colonoscopies are performed, will make sure that you can handle some liquids/solid food before you leave.

Accepted Answer

: Probably you have written instructions about what you can and cannot eat and drink in the 1-2 days or so before the procedure. Usually only clear liquids are permitted, which does not include Ensure (unless they have a clear product that I don't know). Follow your instructions carefully:  you do not want to get half way through a colonoscopy that cannot be completed and must be done again!
