Melanonychia Striata:  Melanonychia striata is a brown-black lines in the nail  the goes from the base to the tip of the nail. Get it checked just to make sure it isn't related to a malignancy

Most likely to be-: -a bruise. If your shoes @ the end jam the big toe, or if you stump your toe the bruise shows up as a black line starting @ the base and gradually grows out with the nail. If this is it not 2 worry. For peace of mind, see your PCP 4 an eval.when you go in be sure all polish is removed from the nails of both feet!

Continue to watch : Let me start by saying if the line is on the nail it would eventually disappear as the nail grows out. To be present for years it would have to be under the nail. Present for years without change I would continue to watch it. Next time at doctors office bring it to their attention
