Normal variation: There are many variations to menstrual flow. If you have no other symptoms, you may let it go. Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. You may consider implanted contraceptive or an IUD.

: Not unusual. A skipped cycle can happen when the woman does not release an egg. That process creates the hormonal variation that triggers menses. Without menses the lining of the womb continues to build &amp; the next cycle will reflect more tissue breakdown. I would not worry about it.

Short period ?'s: If pregnancy is possible, obtain a serum HCG test for certainty.  Pregnancies outside the uterus need immediate attention (ectopic).  If the test is negative, see your gyn physician for an exam and other testing.

Doesn't sound normal: It sounds like there maybe some obstacle in the way of the flow.The amount of flow may also vary with your position,that is,wether you are lying down or walking.I hope this helps to figure out what's going on

Can: The menstrual period is a sloughing off of the top layers of the endometrium. Sometimes with a heavy flow the layer comes off quickly and completely. If that is the case then flow can stop abruptly.
