No: As a pediatrician, i see lots of head lice, but have not seen hair loss with them.  Sometimes, people scratch enough to cause scalp abrasion, but even so, there is very little hair loss.  Scalp ringworm causes hair loss, though.

No: No product or method destoys all of the eggs and hatched lice with single treatment. There are treatments which include chemicals, natural products, combs, shaving, hot air, and silicone-based lotions. All effective treatments require a two-fold process of killing both the adult lice and the eggs. Generally the eggs (nits) need to be manually picked off 1 by 1 in order to ensure all are removed.

OTC/vinegar/Rx: Head lice are a human only human parasite that are a common problem. A good soaking in a stout vinegar will loosen the egg casings so they are easier to remove with a fine comb &amp; it may have a toxic effect on the lice. There are several OTC hair products all of which work in some cases. There are also prescription products that can help the resistant cases.

Physically,: The itch should stop immediately as soon as the lice are dead. Psychologically it can last as long as you remember the crawly feeling.

See below: If the lice are caught in the straightener - yes, but more likely they will be near the scalp along with the eggs and the devise will likely not get that close (although the adjacent heat might work).  Still i would say - not guaranteed.

Ovide: Ovide is press ription that loosens egg. Over the counter approaches include vinegar on a cotton ball to wipe the hairs and loosen eggs.Then use a comb and to remove the eggs. For the resistant eggs separate the hairs and cut out the individual hairs with eggs still on them.

HEAD LICE: It will always be attached to the hair unless pulled out of the hair strand.Live ones presents with a click and dead ones are  thinned out when crushed between  fingernails.
