Depends: Lh and fsh levels vary during the cycle. For instance around ovulation lh goes very high. So those tests need to be interpreted based on the timing as well. As far as pcos those tests have nothing to do with the diagnosis at all. So usually not very important except is unusual circumstances when a diagnosis is hard to see.

my lh is 2 points higher than my fsh (9.6 and 7.9). i am not insulin resustant, my testosterone is low and i do not have polycystic ovaries. what can cause elevated lh besides pcos?

Normal variation.: This could be normal or even lab error.  Lh and fsh are secreted in a pulsatile fashion so that any single measurement especially without knowing the timing is not particularly helpful. Do you have any symptoms that would suggest you have an abnormality or is this just a lab concern?

FSH and LH: Both fsh and lh fluctuate during your cycle. There is an lh surge at ovulation, so if the blood test caught it "just right" you could see quite a high lh. It would be normal. In poly cystic ovarian syndrome, the lh is consistently higher than fsh - but not 5x higher.

i start clomid tomorrow. how does clomid help women if they already have higher lh and fsh (8.5 and 8.0 on cd 3)which clomid is supposed to elevate?

High LH and FSH ?: With irregular to missed ovulation, with  Clomid  used to stimulate ovulation, the elevation in LH is present in patients who may have polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).  Since estrogen continues to be produced without ovulation, FSH is also increased.  Clomid may not cause ovulation, and other medications may be necessary. Get a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist for expert help on this.

: There is no way to answer this question with certainty.

There are a number of factors that influence penis size, including genetics, hormones, among others. FSH, LH, and testosterone vary throughout a man's life. There is no way to know what those hormone levels were years ago. Even if the levels were known, it's nearly impossible to accurately determine the degree of impact on penis size.

Decreased sperm: Production will lead to a feedback mechanism which is attempting to produce more sperm. At your age, it's unlikely that you're considering fathering more children, but see your doctor if you are. If your lh is also elevated, you need to have your testosterone checked as well.

Yes: You are right. Study by m a mcsorley et al  int j of cancer 2009 aug 1 12593) 674-679  contradicts the  popular belief that higher fsh levels will cause cancer.In this study risk is decreased with higher levels of fsh and lower levels are associated with ovarian cancers  and it is a puzzle to me also , hope one of our expert oncologist will unravel.

hi i just started taking letrozole. can i take vitex with it. my fsh and estrogen was low i want to make my chance higher?

Fertility drugs: I assume you are taking Letrozole for fertility issues to stimulate ovulation. If so then it is very important to follow your fertility doctors instructions exactly as directed. Vitex is an herbal treatment of Chaste tree berry and has not been proven to be effective.
