I prefer Rx, but...: ...supplementing with essential oils (lemon,  peppermint, ginger and fennel) may reduce the symptoms of acid reflux.

May actually help!: Many people find that drinking lemon juice actually helps GERD! However, any benefits are temporary and purely symptomatic (like the drugs that are commonly used). i am mixing apple cider vinegar with water and lemon juice. is this what is giving me heartburn?

Good possibility: There is a good chance that the cocktail you are using would cause you heartburn symptoms, by combining 2 acidic liquids. Would definitely recommend giving it a trial in discontinuing it and see if your symptoms improve. Is there any specific reason for why you are drinking consistently that?

Yes!: From the history you just related you clearly have reflux from the stomach. 50 times is a lot! Why is another question. You can speak to your doc and give him a thorough history. He will then examine you thoroughly examine you and may order a few tests. And then some therapy. It is very treatable!

would mixing baking soda with water be ok and safe to use for gerd? i know baking soda is high in salt so not sure how much to use.

DGL licorice: Please do what your doc says, but a natural approach is to take dgl.  Dgl is licorice tablets with an enzyme remove (because too much of it can raise bp).  You need to take a lot of it but many find it helpful.

does alkaline water help with gerd?

Reflux: It can help to neutralize the acids in the stomach. It is much better to take reflux medicine and watch your diet closely to avoid acid foods. There is a good book by dr koufman entitled "dropping acid" which also has a cookbook of low acid foods. It explains the acid diet and is available on amazon. Good luck.

i have phyringints which come and go. i also have gerd and using nexpro-l from one week. i also gargle with salt water from past 4 days. please help?

From Acid Reflux?: Your recurrent pharyngitis may be from gastro esophageal acid reflx.Consult your doctor as acid suppressing therapy with Omeprazole or Nexium (esomeprazole) may help your pharyngitis and gerd.You may need acid suppression for longer than one week to get significant result.

hello. im going to start a 3 day fast, and only consuming water within those 3 days. the only health problem i have currently is gerd, and anxiety. am i still able to do this safely?

: What do you expect to accomplish from a three day fast? If your aim to lose weight, you need a longer term plan than short term fasting. It is likely that you can do it safely, but it may not be effective for what you are trying to achieve.

GERD: With severe GERD, most people need to avoid fruit juices, caffeine, carbonation, and alcohol. There are decaffeinated teas and coffees's which some people are able to tolerate. There are also dairy products, particularly the low fat variety, which many people can tolerate. Although your choices are somewhat limited, you are not restricted completely just to water.
