Left hip pain: May be scaitica. Sitting  is  stress on  spine. Consider ergonomic chair with lumbar support. At work change position ( i.e. get up for a moment every 45 minutes to  an hour) to shake out, Consider a trial of NSAIDS ( motrin/alelve ) and muscle relaxant( if not allergic). Rarely may also be related to ovaries/ colon, retroperitoneal issue so may consider ultrasound or CT abdomen. f/u w/ doc

Yes this could be : One of several diagnoses related to the hip such as : bursitis, tendinitis, cartilage issue such as labrum, and arthritis as the more common possibilities with a knee or back problem sometimes presenting as hip pain or even a sacroiliac issue. There are other possible causes so if the pain persists or worsens, see your physician.

Hip pain: I assume there has been no recent injury, sprain or overuse to explain the hip discomfort. Most likely possibilities are bursitis or arthritis. If the hip is definitely tender, bursitis is more likely. Resting , alternating cold and semihot applications and a one week course of anti-inflammatory medication like ibuprofen or naproxen should be effective for bursitis and temporarily for arthritis.

Depends : It depends if this pain is coming from the hip or the lower back which can refer to the same area.  Stretching is the most important thing to do and to keep moving within the limits of your pain.   If this is persisting more than a month, then see a physician.
