hi, i woke up one morning with left arm numbness from the elbow down with hand weakness and wrist drop.  my doctor ordered a head ct and neck mri to rule out anything life threatening.  it turned out to be saturday night palsy.  how long to recover?

Palsy: Even though the initial nerve damage is serious, the palsy generally heals within several weeks. Treatment involves resting the injured nerve often by wearing a splint. I believe that a neurologist should direct your care and dictate when to start proper physical therapy.

Very unlikely: Sounds like a minor panic attack or bad dream but could be a myriad of causes.  If it does not subside after 10-15 min go to ER, or if continues to recur, consult your MD.  Based on your age, very unlikely to be a heart attack

See a doctor: Palpitations and dizziness that disappear with sitting or lying down are not suggestive of an acute heart attack, but these symptoms need evaluation. The numbness and burning of the left arm may or may not be related. There are many possibilities for these symptoms, including panic disorder, episodic irregular heart beats, anemia. Please see your doctor for examination and appropriate tests.

Rule out heart first: Number one cause in seriousness is heart disease / attack. If you haven't checked this out, do so right away. Other causes include pinched nerve in neck, shoulder injury, overuse syndrome of left arm, thoracic outlet syndrome, blockage of axillary artery.

Possibly: A 37 year old female is unlikely to have a heart attack unless she has other underlying health issues ie. Diabetes, cholesterol disorder, autoimmune disease etc. However such symptoms should be evaluated by a doctor in an emergency room setting - ideally shortly after they start.

Radiculopathy and HA: Neck pain and/or pain around the shoulder blades with associated weakness and/or numbness into the shoulder, arm or hand implies a pinched nerve from either arthritis or a ruptured (herniated) disc. May cause muscle tension in neck and "tension" headache. Nonsurgical treatment includes pt (i prefer mckenzie exercises), arthritis meds, and nerve blocks. Surgery if symptoms no better or worsen.

Needs to get checked: You are young, and heart attack is less likely, unless, of couse, you are a drug user, but there are plenty of things that may couse similar symptoms at your age, some of them are serious enough, bottom line, you need to go to the doctor and get it checked, it is the only way to find out what is causing it and make sure that you'll be ok.

Check the neck: Pain in the upper extremities and problems with legs can be worrisome for cervical spine problems.  You should have a complete neuroligic evaluation.  Good luck.

i have a pinched nerve in my neck, makes left arm numb and have been recommended for surgical fusion c4-5 i'm very nauseated related?

The mechanism for: your nausea is unclear.Have you been taking any pain meds frequently like Advil (ibuprofen) ,which can cause GI irritation and nausea.I would look for other causes than the pinched neck nerve.
