A lot of causes: Migraine, occipital neuralgia variants, upper cervical radiculopathy aka pinched nerve in your neck, others can do this. It's worth seeing someone for.

: These are generally separate issues arising from separate sites for different reasons. One can have both concurrently and an earache may act as a trigger for a headache or not.

i am just getting over a cold. i am experiencing ear pain in my left ear and sinus congestion and headache.  why am i getting new symptoms ?

Complicated: Cold and cough may have exacerbated tmj. Residual inflammation in eustachian tube may have lead to otitis media (hearing loss is key sign of this). If you have pain in the temples and on opening and closing of mouth - think tmj. Take some Motrin and softer foods.

i hit the top of my head three weeks ago and was diagnosed with a concussion. headaches come and go but i am largely suffering from left ear pain that causes dizziness and other sources of pain. why might this be/what can i do to resolve it?

: The left sided headache symptoms described could be due to a number of conditions of which Migraine or left sided Trigeminal neuralgia seem prominent. The PCP can help but one may need to see the Neurologist as well.
