Preterm labor: You are preterm. Full term is at 37 weeks. You definitely need to be in the hospital especially if your bag of water broke because infection of labor is much more common in preterm pregnancies. You need to be monitored and possibly receive treatment for infection.

See your doctor: Amniotic fluid can be detected best at your ob's office using various tools. If you're having gushes of fluid with movement, i suggest you see your OB for an ultrasound and an exam to check the fluid to ensure it's not amniotic fluid.

See your doc: The way to tell if you are leaking amniotic fluid is to see your doc. We have a couple of tests that we can do. (Amnisure swab, speculum exam testing) Don't wait to go in because it increases risks of infection or preterm issues if you are leaking and do not see your doc.

A hole: The bag of water is held together by amniotic membranes that have less integrity than an overfilled water balloon. Sometimes, they develop a "hole" and leak and re-seal, and sometimes they don't. Fluid leakage: If you have liquid discharge, you should notify your physician. Most women's water doesn't break until labor starts, however, sometimes the amniotic bag ruptures prior to labor, and can even occur preterm. Symptoms can include sudden burst of fluid from the vagina, or a chronic watery discharge. Either symptom is concerning and should be reported immediately to your physician.

Watch and wait: I am assuming that you are talking about a fluid leak after a procedure like an amniocentesis. If so, most doctors will discuss bedrest and watching for the leaking to stop.  They will also probably repeat ultrasounds to see if the amniotic fluid level increases.  90% of babies survive after a fluid leak after an amniocentesis.
