Why question?: The information you provided is insufficient to give you an educated guess, but you have raised several issues: 1) on what basis do you eliminate anything (corn, gluten, dairy) from your diet &amp; what do you hope to gain from doing so?  2) why do you need a laxative &amp; what evaluation have you had?  3) what underlying meds are you taking /diseases you have (autoimmune, diabetes... ).

Chronic constipation: As hard as it is to believe, if this has been your lifelong pattern, it is the pattern you are stuck with.  If you want to go more frequently ( you didn't mention any discomfort) you should use a blend of laxatives including fiber -30grams/day- a stool softener, an osmotic and perhaps a mild stimulant.  Drink 8 glasses of water/day and exercise. If no one has checked TSH it is a consideration.

Not very effective: For most people, although it works for some. Amount of liquid or coconut pult to be effective varies considerably. Doesn't work at all for some & may cause diarrhea with small amount in others. Probably ok if u want something mild. Senna is also natural and much more effective. Have you considered prunes or prune juice?

Some other disease?: Each person with constipation needs to be sure there is no other disease causing it. If constipation is just due to slow movement of the food and poop through the gut, things to try are vegetables, prune juice, prunes, fiber-plus-water, polyethylene glycol, Senokot or other senna, milk of magnesia, etc... Make a symptom and "laxatives" diary for the doctor, who might try Linzess or Amitiza.

Further review: You stated your symptoms have been going on for only three months.  Have you changed your diet or eating habits considerably? If not, need to evaluate the lower GI tract to see what has changed.  You could have anything form an absorption problem to a parasitic tapeworm blocking your bowels.  Rec. That you see a doc to evaluate for colon blockage from mass or parasite and motility problems, .

Eating disorder?: Are you dealing with an eating disorder?  Why are you taking laxatives when you're not eating?  Please talk with your physician about this -- the one who's apparently prescribing Celexa (citalopram) and levothyroxine. S/he would want to know what's happening with you.

i have been constipated for 5 days and desperately want relief. would taking a double dose of miralax (34mg) help with this? or would a stimulant laxative be more effective? can i eat even though ive been constipated this long?

Can call Dr on video: A person with constipation needs to be sure there is no other disease causing it. If constipation is just due to slow movement of the food and poop through the gut, then the things to try are vegetables, water, prune juice, prunes, fiber with water, Miralax (polyethylene glycol) Senokot or other senna, milk of magnesia, other laxatives, enema... Doctor can evaluate; prescribe medication if needed.
