Irregular timing: of ovulation, is most likely  reason,  delayed or absent ovulation will cause you to be late.  Of course even late ovulation can achieve a pregnancy if intercourse occurred at at time close to ovulation.  See your doctor for testing and treatment, to correct ovulation issues. Polycystic ovarian syndrome/insulin resistance likely the cause.

No, Normal variation: What you described is likely a normal variation on your menstrual cycle. Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. You may consider implanted contraceptive or an IUD.

Midcycle bleed: You probably had an mid cycle bleed due to the hormone surges associated with ovulating.

Recheck you upt in a couple of days. You may need a serum test at your doctors test to get final confirmation.

I : I think you are correct in thinking that you are not pregnant since you have had 2 negative pregnancy tests taken more than 5 weeks from your last period.  You've mentioned that you've been under some stress lately, and that is always a possibility.

There are other reasons besides pregnancy that can cause a woman to miss a period such as: stress, diet, weight loss, excessive exercise or a hormone imbalance such as with a thyroid disorder or poly cystic ovarian syndrome. If you continue to not have your period or if your periods are becoming irregular, you should contact your doctor.
