Incompatible: Terbinafine should not be administered with tricyclic antidepressants. The two classes of drugs interact.  Mechanisms too complex to discuss here.  Check with your pharmacist.  They should not have given you both at the same time.

Toenail fungus: Remember, the medication works by the medicine going through the blood stream and being absorbed into the nail from the nail matrix So new nail that is formed has medication. Noticeable change may be up to a month.

Good question!: First, make sure of the diagnosis of ringworm.  Next, make sure you are not able to use a topical cream or ointment to treat this.  Lamasil is "probably" safe in the second and third trimesters but why take the chance if a less "toxic" approach can be made.  First, make sure of the diagnosis.  If in doubt, check your your obstetrician and with your pcp.  Perhaps a dermatologist may weigh in?

Depends: Untreated toenail fungus often leads to thickened, disfigured and discolored toenails. Occasionally, toenail fungus can also lead to pain.  Whether or not one takes the oral Lamisil (terbinafine) depends on one's acceptance to risk of possible liver damage.  One's doctor should be monitoring the liver function closely through blood tests.  Have this frank discussion with your physician.

i was diagnosed with tinea capitis 8 years ago. was prescribed griseofulvin twice with no results. was on this for a total of 18 months. do you think i am a candidate for oral lamisil? i have no liver problems, and do not want another round of griseofulvi

Yes, reasonable: From an Google search: Newer antifungal medications, such as itraconazole, terbinafine, fluconazole, reported as effective therapeutic for tinea capitis.  Itraconazole &amp; terbinafine are used most commonly. Selenium sulfide shampoo may reduce risk of spreading the infection early in the course of therapy by reducing the number of viable spores that are shed.

i had a fungal nail infection and treated with oral lamisil (terbinafine). two nails grew out nicely, two aren't growing at all. can they be permanently damaged?

Not likely.: Damaged or not, the nails should continue to grow. The thickness of nails can be due to fungus as well as injury and sometimes both. The nail growth can be stunted at times but they will continue to grow unless the root has been permanently destroyed or removed. You would be best served with a thorough evaluation including past nail treatments.
