Small amount: Lactic acid build up can occur from a variety of causes. Most times this is a limited disturbance due to a severe illness in hospitalized patients (sepsis or liver failure). It can also occur during aggressive exercise, but is generally never severe enough to require medical attention.

Needs to be treated: Lactic acid is produced by tissues/ cells that are not getting enough oxygen.  The most common cause is due to patient's blood pressure being so low that organs such bowel/ kidneys/ brain are not getting enough oxygen.  This always has to be treated, as it can be life threatening.  Cause of low blood pressure needs to investigated, however quite often is due to an infection causing severe sepsis.

No: Lactic acid, although we say "a build up of lactic acid" , etc, does not make a bump or knob. You could have a muscle spasm of some sorts or another injury such as a muscle tear.

Sepsis: High lactate levels can be from multiple causes. The most common is low blood pressure limiting blood supply to vital organs and tissues. This  can be seen in sepsis. 
Most patients with high lactic acid levels are critically ill and require ICU level of care.

No worries.: Lactic acid level is rarely checked, the doc that ordered it should be discussing your results with you, Lactic Acid is checked to evaluate oxygen use by your body's tissues/the cause of p.H. Changes in the blood. Low levels of Lactic Acid are generally a good thing.

This occurs as part of the normal metabolism of glucose by your muscle in the absence of oxygen (called anaerobic metabolism). The Lactic Acid clears from the muscles (and your body) with rest, plenty of fluids and appropriate nutrition.

Maybe,,,: There's no apparent evidence it does this, but these bacteria are widely used in the food industry, like in dairy products to garden cheeses and to even help things like irritable bowel syndrome, so it might harden stool as well.

Yes: Although not too many foods would have Lactic Acid in them. The sugar is different from the acid and doesn't cause the same intolerance.
