: Without an understanding of his medical history, surgical course and examination, it is difficult to give advice. Talk to his surgeon and explain the problem. They can adjust his medication or add an additional medication for adequate pain relief. They may also suggest using OTC pain relievers (Acetaminophen/ Ibuprofen) in addition to the hydrocodone.

More info: What were your symptoms prior to surgery? Were you a multiple dislocator? It can restabilize your shoulder to prevent dislocations. It can also make your shoulder more stiff.

Possible reinjury: If you did not go through rehab and engaged in activities before well healed you may have re-injured it . talk to your orthopedist and may be another MRI study

Knots can squeak: It is not uncommon to get some squeaking from the knots that are used to secure the repaired tissue back in place via the 6 anchors you described. This is often transient, but if it persists, the knots can be removed at a later time.

You're the judge: Whether we're discussing medications, minor procedures or extensive ones, you're the best judge as to whether the desired benefit is worth the risk. Talk to your surgeon about what are common complications as well as expected recovery & pain control. Unless there's a tremendous down side, it would seem to me to do something so that you can exercise w/o pain. Perhaps get a 2nd opinion from another.

Depends : Not all tears require surgery.  If your surgeon recommends shoulder arthroscopy ask him what happens if you try physical therapy instead and what he will do except debriement with labral tear.
