Blood cell count: There are many tests which can be run on blood and the choice depends on the diagnosis that your dr suspects The most basic tests are blood cell counts, and measuring the blood level of few important chemicals . Depends: Most of the routine laboratory tests are completed in less than 4 hours. Some take only minutes. There are other that may take a few days and rare ones a couple of weeks. Had you named the tests, it would have been possible to provide more direct info. Please note that if you participate in the "Patient Portal" required to be offered, you would know the results at the completion of tests.

during routine blood work my biocarbonate was slightly elevated at 33 (range 21-32). all other labs completely normal. anything to be concerned about?

More info pls: The complete set of labs can be uploaded to your Electronic record through the virtual consultation portal. This is probably fine if you are otherwise healthy. I would also check a urinalysis during your routine visit.

No: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, low CO2 is likely due to you hyperventilating at the time of blood collection. There is no need to repeat the test.

Insufficient info: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, slightly elevated sed rate suggests some inflammation but it may well be your normal. It would be prudent to consult your doctor who has more info about your health.

results: Hypercoagulation lab testing is extensive and can take up to a week or more for results. Sometimes the results are complicated, but the question is "what is your risk for another clotting event" and "how long should you be treated". However, if you have a blood clot currently, the diagnosis and treatment should happen quickly. Be well.

i am on clomid (clomiphene) and my day 21 falls on a saturday (no labs are open for blood work). should i go before or after day 21?

Ask your doctor: I'd tell my patient to go on the 22nd or 23rd, but you should ask your doc what he/she wants.

Why not: Unless you have a health condition that makes it dangerous for you to skip meals, going for one full day without food is not a problem.  Stay hydrated!
