i recently had two epidural injections for my herniated disk about a month apart for my l5/s1 vertebrae now im experiencing muscle twitching and throbbing not just my legs but arms now is this a side effect or theres something else happening here ?

Something else: Epidural injection for L5/S1 problem puts steroid in the very bottom of your spine and it really does not go anywhere else. Therefore, it does not affect the arms. What you are experiencing is not likely from the steroid injection.

: Retrolisthesis is a relatively uncommon finding by spine X-ray. This condition does not often cause any symptom but neck or back pain can be a presenting symptom. In general, the observed X- ray change may not correlate well with the symptom. (osteo)arthritis: Whoever ordered xrays and gave you results should have explained results to you (or patient). More important than xray interpretation (no offense intended towards radiology colleagues) is why xray ordered in first place. While xrays may show evidence of arthritis, we treat patient &amp; pain/debility, not xray. Sometimes, there can be lots of pain despite normal xray. Other times, no pain w/coincidenc

Schmorl's Node: Most schmorl's nodes are asymptomatic, but anything in the wrong place with a mass that can cause compression of a nerve or on a nerve can theoretically cause pain.

: Unfortunately, would ordinarily expect these findings in a much older individual.  Your reported findings are consistent with degenerative disc disease and lumbosacral spondylosis.  Perhaps this all is due to prior trauma??

Pain may not be-: -from the oeteophyte, because you don't say what level that finding is at or how many levels are involved. The back pain i would assume front your age could very well be from degenerative disk disease of the lumbar spine. A bulging disk is another sign of degenerative disease. There are many treatments available so see your PCP for eval  &amp; referrals if needed.

Herniated disc?: If you do not have nerve compression resulting in pain or bladder/bowel dysfunction, your body will eventually form scar tissue around the new place the disc rests and the symptoms will improve. This can take 2-3 months.

l5&s1 fusion 10/10/13. how soon can i have an mri?

Usually 6 wks after: Usually you can have an MRI 6 weeks after your surgery, provided that all the devices are MRI safe.  Typically with fusion, all the implanted hardware is MRI safe.  If you have an epidural pain pump, that is another story and should be discussed with your doctor.

Family practice : Back pain is one of most common complaints we see people for in our drs office. Depends on severity of symptoms. Was there trauma. How active you are and how active you want to be. Some may heal in time on their own. However physical therapy will help you get better quicker. Stengthening exercises , Ibuprofen , and ice/heat compresses may help. If pain persists may need to see a neurologist.
