Probably fine to use: Sports drinks are usually not needed (water does fine). If a person drinks >16oz bottle, he'll be getting more sugar than he might want. On websites, iso plus has 24g, gatorade g has 28g, and powerade has 28g of sugar per 16oz. All have some potassium (k) and sodium (na). Small amounts of Amino Acids are put into various drinks, but may be for marketing strategy, rather than the human body's need.

?why not diet?: While the carnitine supplement you describe is safe at your age when used as directed, it still has considerable calories and shouldn't be looked at as a weight loss item. This is basically a protein powder, so instead, get more proteins in your diet - have a juicy steak, a grilled chicken breast, e yogurt parfait, etc. You get the extra protein and it tastes good too! keep it up at the gym.

We loose weight: over our entire body.  Spot reducing is not effective.  The amount of running or other exercise that helps depends on your present weight and metabolism.  If your doc clears you for exercise go for it, same w/lower carb food plan.  Overall health is the best goal.  Peace and good health.  Ask a personal trainer about "stomach crunches" to tone up your belly muscles a bit.

No magic here: Simply staying physically fit, getting into a fitness lifestyle and really hitting the aerobic exercise hard will do far more for you than carnitine pills. Go ahead with them if you wish. Unless you're a heavily-muscled bodybuilder (you're taking creatine i see), you could really stand to lose some fat, and i'm pleased you're doing so. Join the treadmill guys at the gym -- more fun than pills.

Avoid "fat burners": Our bodies like to use glucose (our main fuel), which comes from the food in the stomach and small intestine, and from the liver (where glucose is stored in a starch form called glycogen). As long as one is NOT eating enough to supply glucose to her cells, her liver will run low on glucose or glycogen, and her body will burn fuels like fat to keep her cells working. Eat less and  exercise more.
