Seek urgent care: This could be an internal staph or strep infection which could become very serious if untreated. He probably needs internal antibiotics and it is important to start as soon as possible, so I advise going to an Emergency Room or Urgent Care Center. It may not be that serious but it may be so I would not take any chances.

Oat cell carcinoma often kills as the diagnosis is being made; choriocarcinoma is famously fast. I've seen people die in car wrecks due to brain metasatses clueless that they had cancer, but the three i named first are the really speedy ones if untreated.
