Knee pain: You may have fluid in side your knee. The most relaxed position of knee is on half bending. If you lying with knee straight, the pressure inside knee capsule might higher, and you experience some pain. However, this is just one of the explanations.

Knee pain: If there has been no recent injury or overuse, knee pain at rest can be due to internal derangement such as cartilage damage where a fragment is symptomatic only in certain positions. Inflammatory processes like tendonitis or arthritis are still possibilities. An orthopedic surgeon could evaluate you. Evaluation may also include an xray or MRI. In the meantime try some antiinflammatory like Advil.

PFPS: Also known as patellofemoral pain syndrome could certainly be the cause.  Typically in women.  Sitting with knees bent can make it worse.  Essentially an inflammation of the cartilage behind the kneecap.  Usually improved with activity, pt, occasionally bracing and nsaids.

? radiculopathy: Your panoply of symptoms causes me to wonder about congenital lumbosacral stenosis, or even ankylosing spondylosis.  Since this appears complex, some blood tests and imaging studies are in order.  A neurological consult would be a good place to start.

It could be a sprain: Strain, tendinitis, bursitis, arthritis etc. Try applying warm compress and taking nsaids for now. Go see your dr for reassurance!

2) referred pain. The back can refer pain to the hip and knee region. The hip can refer pain to the knee region.

Therefore see your doctor for a through history and physical examnination and possible imaging evaluation to elucidate the source of your pain.

Knee pain: may be Bakers cyst ,tendonitis,hematoma though they should hurt more with exercise. Also though rarer in a male consider a clot, becasue clots are dangerous would f/u today with doctor /urgent care may need sonongram that can visualize clots , bakers cysts  or a hematoma
