: See a doc for a proper evaluation. The cited injury and symptoms are not conclusive. This may be a simple self resolving problem (doubt) , one that needs physical therapy or one that needs surgery. Treatment is most often successful early before deterioration of the joint sets in.

was weeding & kneeling for 15 minutes. when i stood up, can't bear weight on left knee w/out severe front knee pain. doesn't hurt when sitting. tips?

Conservative care : Could be an injury to the soft tissue structures within the knee, possibly the meniscus.  I would treat with conservative care: rest, ice, and perhaps Aleve (naproxen) or similar product.  Hopefully it will resolve in short order.

Nerve irritation.: There is a small branch of a nerve that runs in the front of the knee, and can become irritated with direct kneeling. This could account for the burning feeling. See an orthopedic knee specialist for treatment.

Knee sensation: How recently?  Please tell me it's been more than a week at least.  There are some people who are overly sensitive to their body.  Give it a few days at least.  U would be surprised how many people don't give tincture of time to work.

Chondromalacia: Very likely this represents roughened/damaged cartilage behind the kneecap termed patellar chondromalacia. 1st line treatment can include quadriceps, gluteal and hamstring strengthening; it band stretching and a knee brace that stabilizes the kneecap. Many other treatment options exist based on age, severity, activity level, etc.

Patella: You may have a patella tracking issue. As the patella slides in between the femoral condyles, if it is misalgined, it can cause pain as it glides incorrectly through that groove. Physical therapy for quad strengthening specific to the side that is weak in your quad can help a great deal. The tighter your quads become from no exercise, the more the pain, which is why your have noticed that.

Consult with a doc: Consulting with a sports medicine/orthopedic doctor could give you a head start to both diagnosis and treatment. Tendonitis and cartilage problems would be at the top of the list as the cause of your symptoms. For now, rest from any aggravating activities and ice the area for 20 minutes 2-4 times/day.
