: First, you describe wear and tear "chondromalacia", and an injury to at least one meniscus.  Would consult with an orthopedic surgeon.  Surgery is not always the approach, as a steroid injection and a series of hyaluronic acid injections might be preferred approaches.  Physical therapy definitely should be commenced.

Maybe: Chondropathy means disease of the cartilage.  There are many, MANY diseases of cartilage.  Might want to ask your doctor to be more specific. What chondropathy of the knee do they think you have?  Then they/we might be better able to answer your question.  Some are chronic.  Some are not.

It won't: Osgood-schlatter is a condition involving a portion of the tibial growth plate at the insertion of the patellar tendon. It is associated with tight quadriceps (especially the rectus femoris). There can be a painful fragmentation that occurs at this area. The best treatment is stretching, nsaids and rice. It resolves when the growth plates close. Rarely it can end in fracture.

Shoes?: Are you wearing proper running shoes? Also if so new shoes should be bought every six months to prevent knee and lower back pain.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) or: Ibuprofen will work for the pain no med prevents progression  just gentle use

Piriformis syndrome: Piriformis syndrome is much less common than other causes of leg and knee pain, like sciatica or disc compression of lumbar roots.
