Wait: Most kidney stones will pass on their own with pain control (from Ibuprofen or occasionally narcotics), plenty of fluids, and time. Stones that are large may not pass; the state of the art for many is lithotripsy, when stones are broken up by intense ultrasound waves, leaving a fine(r) gravel that should pass much more easily.

my brother's heart stopped after 80% kidney stone surgery as per doctors and now treatment on that is going on. can u please explain why that happened?

Anesthesia, probably: I am not clear on what a "80% kidney stone" means, but usually, cardiac arrest during a procedure is related to anesthesia or medications given around the time of sedation. It is more likely if you have heart problems to begin with (heart disease, heart failure, etc.) But, sometimes, bad luck happens even in the hospital, so it could have been timing. is 3 weeks too soon for ureteroscopy on 4mm kidney stone? i am in only mild pain intermittently. wait or surgery? don't want unnecessary surgery.

Good question: A 4 mm stone has a very good chance of passing over several weeks. You could wait up to 6  weeks if you continue to be comfortable

There: may be a narrowing (stenosis) of the drainage tube (ureter) which may not show well on normal testing. You should be seeing a UROLOGIST and perhaps ask him/her if a RETROGRADE CONTRAST study of the "collecting system" of the left kidney is indicated. IF the answer is no....and /or all tests negative a PAIN consultation (with a PAIN specialist is your next step (in My Opinion) Hope this helps   Z

Question?: You have not clearly asked a question.  If at your age you have now had two kidney stones, clearly you have a disorder leading to stone formation.  There are many of these, so you need to see a specialist to figure out what you have and how to treat it to minimize the chances of further stone formation.

Pain: Kidney stones are usually silent until they move or cause blockage of urine flow. When the pain occurs it may be severe and pain medication should be prescribed. Have you consulted a urologist for evaluation, management and follow up?

Post op bleeding: You should contact your urology surgeon regarding post op bleeding. Profusel bleeding can cause hypotenson and anemia if not treated.  Surgical site needs to be examined to be sure closing appropriately.

Possibly: If by "traditional", you mean the need to surgically cut out stones from the kidney, ureter, or bladder then yes. These operations are rare in the western world nowadays, but they can be done via minimally invasive methods to minimize scarring. However, nearly all stones can be managed with external lithotripsy (noninvasive), endoscopically (no scar) or percutaneously (small scar) these days.

how do they remove a stent placed after kidney stone removal surgery?

Two ways: If the stent is left with a long "string" if intended to be short term, this can be grasped and pulled out easily. If there is no visible string, an office procedure to retrieve it with a flexible fiberoptic scope (cystoscopy) is a rapid and relatively painless method to remove the stent.
