Kidney stone: A kidney stone in the ureter may be seen on a plain film, but other radiographic modalities are better such as an IVP, CT scan, or ultrasound.  You may have some blood in the urine as the stone passes through the urethral system.  If you still have pain and have not passed the stone, follow up with your doc, as you may need lithotripsy or some procedure to break up the stone and allow it to pass.

No: If you have calcium, cystine, or triple-phosphate stones, no. If you have uric acid stones, also no, though you may have been advised to restrict your diet to keep purine intake low. Almonds aren't loaded with purines. You can probably ignore stuff about "acid / alkaline forming foods" from kidney-stone websites; stay hydrated and comply with the rest of your rx.

Many.: Kidney stones can be silent, but when they obstruct the kidney they can cause debilitating pain. This can be an issue for many, especially pilots & transit workers. Long term blockage can affect kidney function, as the kidney may atrophy.  Urinary tract infections are riskier in patients with stones as they complicate management.

: Diet modification depends on the stone type and the work-up results (blood and urine and imaging tests). The existing stone will get bigger due to further crystal deposit or new stone will develop. High fluid intake to at least 2 -2.5 liters/day is the mainstay for most cases.  You should see a urologist or nephrologist with experience in caring patients with kidney stone (nephrolithiasis).

: Ideal oral calcium intake is 1800 - 2000mg/day. Routine meals provide 100mg, thus 3 meals are 300mg/day. Additional calcium can come from dairy servings which typically provide ~300mg (milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc.). Other sources can be fortified foods (ie. orange juice). When falling short, supplementation is beneficial. Calcium citrate is a great choice. 250mg is a small amt and is safe.

Depends on size: Once kidney stone is confirmed by ct of kidneys treatment depends on size. Large stones needs to be surgically removed by urologists while smallers ones will pass. Push fluids and take pain meds. Sound waves can be used in lithotripsy to break up stones that can be naturally passed as well.
