Old medications: What is the condition of the pills?  is there an "off odor" in the bottle?  Generally medications are safe to take if older  but over time they may lose potency or as some - like cheap aspirin - start to decompose.    You could try taking the course - it might take a little longer to resolve and if it doesn't  - ask for a refill.    good luck

Ketoconozole: I know of no reactions of alcohol consumed with any topical medicine.

it's been 10 months suffering from jock itch. i consult a doctor and take medication. it gets healed and when i leave medicine it starts again in 24 hours and gets worse. medication includes terbinafine+clotrimazole ketoconazole+fexofinadine. help me?

: Probably the conditions are there to start back up always. Warm sweaty conditions is what it likes. So taking a mediciation daily like fluconazole for at least a couple weeks may break the cycle. Or even daily spraying the area with Lotrimin spray when you get dressed and undressed. Talk to your doctor about those solutions.

i have 3 ringworm spots that wont go away with otc cremes. my doc prescribed 7 days of ketoconazole tablets 200mg. i've seen doc on here say that's not good drug for this? i'm concerned by all the warnings on the labels for this drug. please advise!

Griseofulvin : I am surprised you are given Ketoconazol. It is the last one to use due to serious side effects even liver failure!  Depending on the site of the ringworm if OTC topical cremes do not work  then I would give Griseofulvin for 4 to 6 weeks. May treat it once.  There are other similar drugs too- their names escapes me!   Get a second opinion with a dermatologist. Best of luck and good health.

Safer=yes: Any drug applied to the skin surface will be less likely to trigger systemic side effects since it is not absorbed into the blood in significant amounts. The best drug is the one that works, which will need a proper trial to find in a resistant condition.

Depends: Would use a gentle cleanser instead of shampoo(ketoconazole) and would not use any creams before a f acial as they must be remove prior and may interfere with the process.

Best to dispose of med in proper manner.  Check w/ your doc, med given before may not be appropriate now - ie new treatments, changes in your body, new med interactions etc..
