hi my grandchild put karvol in her eyes. she is screaming now what can i do?

Rinse the eyes: I would flood the eyes with artificial tears or water. That should remove any remaining drug. There may be slight redness or discomfort for a while &amp; use of a cool compress held in place may offer some relief. If the screaming persists have her seen so the doc can rule out a corneal burn.

Camphor: Among the ingredients in Karvol Plus, camphor is worrisome and can cause seizures.  However, you probably did not expose your baby to the poison because you washed your hands after the exposure. You need not be worried unless your child has abnormal behaviors of seizures. Ensure that s/he is well hydrated and monitor his activity and sleep.

Medicine for babies: The American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control in the United States do not recommend cough or cold medicine for babies.  You may use saline drops and nasal suction and increase the humidity by sitting with baby in a steamy bathroom.

what else can i do or use to clear  my 3 month old her blocked  nose? ive been using iliadin saline nose  drops, suction bulb and karvol vapour chest rub for 4 days and it has not cleared.

Unlikely to : Nasal congestion is aggravated by fumes/dust/airborne irritants/etc. . Chest rubs have no value in small infants and stink enough to keep them congested. I never use them under a year. Vigorous nasal wash out with saline &amp; removing all environmental irritants are the things that work best at that age.

fluids , saline: Fluids, rest and monitor for fever.Please see your pediatrician for worsening, eye redness or rash.

Can taper dose...: ...slowly over a period of a week or two, but after a few days of having no drug in your system you'll still be back to making basal levels of stomach acid. Perhaps a step-down to an H2-blocker or use of antacids may achieve your goal.

As prescribed: Unclear if this is for malaria treatment or prevention.  In any case, except for significant side effects, the anti malarial should be taken as prescribed.

if i discontinue one benzo, will it reduce tolerance for other benzos as well?

Benzos: Hoping you're not taking 2 benzodiazepines at once, but none should be stopped suddenly as withdrawal may result.  Also, you may still have tolerance for some time after changes are made, even though this would decrease over time with decreased benzo dosing. Please work with your doctor in any changes to your medications.
