So it would depend : Where along the fifth metatarsal the fracture is and how bad of a fracture. Most metatarsal fractures do well with a walking boot if not badly displaced or comminuted. Fractures occuring about 1.5 cm from the fifth met base are notorious bad healers due to bad blood supply and need to be aggressively monitored and may require surgery. They are known as jones fractures.

i was in a walking boot for 8 weeks cuz i fractured my foot its been 10 months and it still hurts why is this still happing i wonder if its heeled?

Sorry to hear: It may take up to a year for it to heal completely and pain is relative but definitely let your surgeon know it's painful.  They may need to get new imaging, check for infection, etc to make sure you have the best chance for healing.  Best of luck.

i fell on the side walk about a month ago. the doctors have me crutches and a walking boot. the walking boot doesn't help that much. is it fractured?

Occult fractures : Sometimes broken bones do not show up on the first x-ray as cracks in the bone can be very hard to see.  If you are still having significant pain then you may wish to get a second x-ray.

i saw my ortho doc and he said i have a fractured 5th metatarsal. he gave me a walking boot and said come back in 3 weeks. is this normal procedure?

Depends: It really depends on where it is broken. If it is broken and non displaced other than the base of the bone...it is normal. He will take further x-rays to check its progress. My advise to you is stay in that boot, let your foot be your guide and let it heel.

Depends: It really depends on the location and type of fibula fracture.  A stable fracture that doesn't require surgery may be able to come out of boot in 2-6 weeks.

Should check with --: Your treating physician, as it depends on the healing of your fx. He'll make a decision based on your xrays findings ; exam. No one but your physician should decide only.

Yes: That is a good sign, but you will need to continue to wear the boot until you get x rays to know that the bone is healed.  Bone typically takes 6-8 weeks to heal.

i have 2nd metatarsal fracture (non-displaced) and a cartilage tear. how should this be treated? i have tried walking boot (2x) and cortisone.

More information.: Treatment depends on several things, including but not limited to, location of fracture, health, age, vascular condition and weight. Typically, a cast boot works fine as long as there is minimal ambulation and respect for the fracture site. Cortisone seems a little excessive, but there could be a reason. To remove all doubt, a second opinion is advisable.
