Not necessarily: The need for a particular anesthetic depends on the complexity of the surgery and the patient.  Oral surgeons are specifically trained to do sedation and general anesthesia in the office.  Many patients choose to got to the oral surgeon for this expertise that most dentists don't have.

Do you faint at the sight of blood or trauma? Some folks do. Do you get anxious in stress situations with fingers trembling etc. Do you get panic attacks etc?
Just kny.
Also, surgical training  is generally longer and harder to obtain.

It depends on the: type of surgery you wish to perform.  Generally speaking, you need 4 years of undergraduate studies to get a Bachelor's, then 4 years of medical school for the MD degree.  Then you do your residency training which is 3 years for general surgery and orthopedics and then your specialty surgery training (e.g. 2-4 years for oncological, urological, or neurological) called fellowships.

Many different specialties are trained in this area and include oculoplastics (opthalmologists), or facial plastics (otolaryngolgists) or plastic surgeons. I would meet with individuals who are respected in your community and ask for referrals from physicians whom you trust for your care.

Why change: Age should not be reason to change, hospital will not grant previlages  if surgeon can not perform his duties.

Surgeon: I have seen may short surgeon.  Some use stepping stools to do surgery.  Do not worry about your height
