what defines the cramping/lockjaw sensation caused by tetanus? i have a jaw and neck ache, but no difficulty opening mouth. last tetanus shot was 2001. did some soil gardening 8 days ago but no cuts.

Not Lockjaw: Yeah, tetanus requires some kind of wound inoculating the skin with bacteria. But you may have a temporomandibular joint dysfunction syndrome.  If this continues, please see a TMJ specialist dentist for some diagnosis and help.

Headache causes: The cuases of headache are legion. Last time i looked, single spaced 3 pages. Common ones are migraines, tension, anxiety, sinusitis, mild head trauma, hypertension, eye strain, ear infection. , prior cervical spine injury, central nervous  system infection. The list goes on and on.

: A headache with neurologic symptoms, that lasts 24 hours requires a work up to determine cause. This  may be a migraine, tension type headache, occipital neuritis, or more severe causes.

HPT: Reasons for missed/late periods: low body weight, obesity, marked weight ^ or v, over-exercise, endurance athletics, breast-feeding, ^ stress, illness, eating disorders (bulimia or anorexia), anovulatory cycle (no egg released), travel, hormone irregularities, drug use, meds (i.e., birth control) or medical problems. #1 reason is pregnancy. Take a home pregnancy test if sexually active.

TMJ syndrome: It is very common and is due to pain from your jaw joint. Ibuprofin. Warm compress and soft diet may improve it. See your dentist for night guard if pain persists.

Examination: A thorough examination may be needed to diagnose the cramps but some home remedies can be eating soft or liquid food, otc analgesics, drink more water as you may be dehydrated some. Regardless you may still need to be evaluated as you may have tmd or other pathology's.

Yes: Yes. Likely a cramp.  May have injured jaw joint (TMJ) if pain persists, see oral surgeon or TMJ specialist.

Pain/jaw: In your age group. Especially if there is a heart history in your family. Make sure this is not atypical chest pain.  Other wise it could be dental or parotid gland problem  . Check with your Doctor
