Accutane: Accutane is a great drug but needs to be monitored carefully when administered. Whether the benefits outweigh the risks must be evaluated in each patients individual circumstance.It can make acne flare in the first few months of use.

Acne: Typical treatment for acne is oral antibiotics like Minocin or Monodox and prescription topicals like epiduo or ziana. Hormonal is treated with spironolactone. Retin a (tretinoin) does help treat acne. See your local dermatologist.

Acne treatment: Acne can be prevented or minimized by using a gentle cleanser twice daily, over the counter benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid products or prescription medications including topical cream with or without oral medications.  Don't pick!  A dermatologist should be able to help you.

Morning: after washing your face with a cleanser (Cetaphil) apply a thin layer of a mix of topical benzoyl peroxide, and topical clindamycin.
Night: Wash face with a gentle facial cleanser. Apply a thin layer of the topical retinoid to the entire face.

There are many treatments that can help control or reduce acne breakouts but they will usually recur especially if you stop the treatments. You may go thru periods in your life when acne is worse such as puberty, pregnancy, and after menopause due to hormonal fluctuations. Also stress and environmental factors play a role.
