my 4 year old son has itchy, red, watery eyes. what is wrong and what can i get for him? there is no mucus or discharge?

Allergies: From your description, your son may have allergic conjunctivitis. Rinse his eyes gently with saline, provide a children's antihistamine, and avoid common triggers. These include avoidance of dust, mold, pollen, pets. Avoid all smoke exposure, and please see your PCP for allergy testing. If there is thick drainage, fever, rash, peeling skin, please see a physician right away.

Conjunctivitis: This sounds like this may be conjunctivitis.  Conjunctivitis can be viral or bacterial, and will need to be seen by a physician as your son will likely need to be on antibiotics as this has lasted for this long.

Doctor can examine: Eye irritation can be from allergies to pollens and other allergens, or from irritants like wind or chemicals. Some people have blepharitis, an infection of the lids' edges. Conjunctivitis can be a viral or bacterial infection of the inner surface of the lids and outer surface of the eyeballs. Some people have sensitive skin on the lids, called eyelid eczema, that can lead to lids and eye redness.

Allergies/Infection: Could be allergies or infection. Start with an oral or nasal antihistamine. Relief should be seen within 3-4 days. If the redness and itchiness continues and there is sticky discharge, consult your GP for examination and treatment.
