It's difficult to: Make an assessment of a skin lesion without seeing it. It could be one of many possibilities including eczema , tinea/fungus etc. Go see your dr for an accurate diagnoses. Take care!

i have discovered a bruise on my right hip (~2" long), don't know how it got there. now it's turned into an itchy rash. please help.

Get checked: Though one can bruise yourself from scratching, normally the itch comes first. Rarely but possible I have seen severe hives resolve leaving a bruise, thought due to an autoimmune phenomenom. Perhaps it's not quite a bruise. Early shingles? UP? DH? Recommend be examined and get it checked out.

Itchy wound: The itchy feeling associated with a healing wound may come from the skin's fibroblasts working themselves into the fresh wound trying to heal itself. Or maybe you are wearing wool pants!!

Infection or: Lymph nodes protect us from infection; however, an enlarged inflamed groin lymph node after a bite on the hip , suggest possible early infection, inflammation or an allergic response. I suggest that you see a dermatologist.
