Time.: It may take a week before your rash would go away after stopping the drug. Try antihistamine up to 4 times daily to see if it controls the itching.  If not, a short course of cortisone may be needed when the itching gets intolerable. 
Topical anti-itch lotion may also be helpful

The cause is very elusive &amp; some consider it an autoimmune disorder. If the symptom persists, I recommend consulting a dermatologist or allergist for evaluation and advice. In the meantime you could try taking an antihistamine.
