Itchy eyes: Do not scratch your eyes, or you may suffer a corneal abrasion.  Rubbing the eyes may only make the allergic symptoms worse.  It may be better to try an allergy drop such as pataday, lastacaft, (alcaftadine) elestat, or zaditor.  Most of these medicines can be prescribed by your ophthalmologist.  Zaditor is available over-the-counter.

Cold compresses: Cold compresses and antihistamine eye drops. See your eye doctor for a recommendation on which eye drops are best for you. Using over the counter products can often lead to problems.

Fasciculations?: Not sure what you mean by vibrating. There are eyelid twitches (usually a lower lid) when your eyes are open or "fasciculations" or quivering of the upper eyelids when eyes are closed while awake. Caffeine has been implicated in both these scenarios but it could be strain of facial muscles from stress or routine gesticulations (facial expressions). Itching is usually allergy but could b other prob.

Yes: But burny itchy eyes can be due to other causes such as blepharitis, allergies, etc. Or a combination of factors.  Try artificial tears to see if they help improve dryness.

Warm compresses at: least 5 mins. a day in the morning. See eye doctor and then have them recommend the best therapy for blepharitis or blepharoconjunctivitis. You may need stronger drops.

Artificial tears: Regular artificial tears or similar products are fine. If you itch a lot, there are antihistamine eye drops like zadator that can sometimes be helpful.

Most likely due to: Allergies. Try over the counter allergy eye drops. I like zaditor (ketotifen) the best. They do sting  when put in, only need to just two times a day. If this does not help contact an eye care doctor for an eye exam.

Remove the cause: Itchy eyes are often caused by pollens or ragweeds--can be miserable for some. The best treatment is avoidance, but that is not practical for most of us. So next best thing--flush your eyes out couple of times a day, especially after being outdoors. This remove some to most of the allergens. Nasal steroid such as Veramyst helps both nasal and occular allergies. Consult doc. Good luck.

Allergy: Allergy and dry eye are the most common. Blepharitis too, but often is associated with crusting. Go to ophthalmologist and get a prescription for pataday/bepreve- very helpful. Try artificial tears first.
