Itching: Check with your internist to see if you have a normal bood count and chemistries. Then, if everything is normal consult a dermatologist for help with your itchimg.

Maybe: Pinworms like to come out at night, lay eggs around the anus, irritating (itchy at night and usually other times too); makes you scratch, get your hands infested, touch your mouth swallow eggs, and get more (yucky, but clever adaptation on their part)
could be other stuff, unrelated.

Other possibilities include allergic reaction to clothing or a yeast infection, but inspection of the eruption is required in order to diagnose and prescribe appropriate treatment.

After a week: The itching is caused by a skin irritation, not directly by the pin worms.The female worm lays eggs in a sticky glue like material around the anus.That glue triggers skin irritation in most people. Simple wash off with cold water and application of an OTC hydrocortisone cream has more benefit to the itch than the pills.

See a dermatologist: or your doctor to start with, meanwhile take care of your skin: bathe with cream soap at night before going to bed, apply moisturizing cream right after bathing while skin is still damp, cut your finger nails short, stay well hydrated, best wishes

Fairly common: This could be several things, most of which are quite common and not alarming. Pruritus ani is rectal/anal irritation and itching (generally worse at night) that can be caused by moisture, yeast, or other mild infections or inflammatory causes. Treatment is generally aimed at ruling out more serious infections (e.g. parasites) and supportive care--perhaps a trial of anti fungal cream or steroid.

Several types of inflammatory conditions of the skin, allergic reactions, and sometimes bacterial, viral or fungal infections can cause rashes on the skin. Insect bites can also be the cause of a rash on the skin.  Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.
