my calf muscle looks bruised and hurts when i walk on it and i have blood spots at my foot from it, is it bruised? or strained? or pulled?

Sounds bruised: May be deep bruise or blood may ve from tear in muscle or ligament. Ice andelevate, if not quickly resolving see yourdoctor to rule iut blood clot.

i have been running a lot and recently started to have lower calf pain. when i walk around or ice, i can sometimes feel the pain shoot down into my heel/foot. i assume its a strain and rest is best, but wanted to make sure it might not be serious?

: Not sure what “running around a lot” actual means. You would b best to be evaluated by your family doctor. They can determine the type of Referal you might require. A podiatrist  the swelling from running could be placing pressure on your nerves. But.  I Am more concern about why are your calves are swelling. Bilateral calve swelling with running is not normal. Further evaluation is needed

Sounds like nerve: Most likely condition would be a pinched nerve.  The nerves that supply the feet stem from nerve branches traveling from the leg.  The "pinch" could be from the back at its root, but it an also be locally due to musculature.  Another thing to be checked is circulation because if blood flow is hampered to a an area, it can cause pain and reduce function in the nerves.  Get checked properly.

Probably not: DVT symptoms include calf pain, unilateral swelling, redness, warmth and a heavy achy feeling. Ultrasound is the most common diagnostic tool, but the dr can also order a d-dimer or a venogram. In a healthy 18 yo person, unless there is a family history or trauma, a negative ultrasound is very reliable. Common: bruising from shin initially spreads down to foot and ankle due to gravity. Should resolve in time. Try some elevation and ankle exercises. See doctor if gets worse rather than better.
