BP in elderly.: We used to think that older people could tolerate higher BP readings ("isolated systolic hypertension of the elderly"), but now we know that their upper limit of acceptable is really just like everyone else - no higher than 140/90, and the lower the better (although too low is not good either).  Bringing the top number down to 130 and even 120 would result in lower risk of mortality.

BP is recorded as systolic over diastolic . Diastolic hypertension is when the bottom number is elevated above its normal maximum of 80-90. In younger patients, diastolic hypertension is related to more worrisome outcomes.

: I would recommend seeing a nephrologist so that measures can be taken to avoid progression of your stage 2 chronic kidney disease. A nephrologist can help get your blood pressure controlled and may suggest dietary measures that may also help. You may also need further testing. If you are diabetic, you need that to be controlled as well. So, see the nephrologist. Best of luck to you!!

Multiple regimens: Depending on age, a systolic of 140-180 does not mandate treatment if the diastolic is low. Ace inhibitors and beta blockers would be first line treatments if needed.

There are a number: of medications to help reduce the symptoms and progression of diastolic dysfunction but this needs to be individualized for the patient. Make an appointment with your health care provider and ask for this to be addressed for you.

Yes: Especially in someone your age. Up to age 50 diastolic  HTN can be more common than systolic HTN.
