i had my 1st and 2nd metatarsals shortened and screws put in. how long will i need to wear the  protective boot for. do i need physiotherapy?

6 weeks: You will need a fracture walker x 6 - 12weeks depending on healing.  
I do recommend physical therapy 3 - 8 weeks after this procedure.

unable to get rid of hip rotation after 1.5 yr physiotherapy. have dysplasia cam impingement no pain just dufficulty walking. what's going on?

Bony Block: You may have some physical block to full hip range of motion due to abnormal shape of your femoral head or acetabulum, or a bone spur blocking your motion, which may result in a non-congruent joint and impingement during your normal arc of motion, hence precluding you from being able to utilize to normal full range of motion. Glad you have no pain, but you  should see an orthopaedic joint surgeon.

i've had facet joint injections that haven't worked i have pains in hips and pins and needles physiotherapy has not worked what do you recommend next?

Back pain: In addition to cortisone injections, physical therapy, chiropractic care, back bracing and neuropathic pain medicine can reduce or eliminate the pain. See a neurosurgeon to evaluate the pain because herniated discs with nerve impingement, tears in the disc, and inflammation of the sacroiliac joints can mimic facet joint pain.

Hip Pain: The treatment for your hip pain is determined by the cause of the pain.  It may require surgery or it may not.  Please get a diagnosis from your doctor.  Consider modalities like biofeedback and/or clinical hypnosis (www.asch.net), acupuncture,  or chiropractic and discuss these w/your doctor.  Peace and good health.

Sometimes: By easing muscle tightness and imbalances which are the root cause of the problem, massage therapy, chiropractic treatments, and physical therapy have been shown to be very effective in the treatment of hip alignment problems.

will i need physical therapy after hip resurfacing? will i need ongoing treatment such as physical therapy after my hip resurfacing procedure?

PT: Physical therapy is very beneficial to aid your recovery after hip resurfacing.  Your orthopaedic surgeon can prescribe the pt for you.  Regular participation in therapy and independent exercises will help facilitate your recovery.

when i stop physical therapy will the pain return after a broken hip?

Keep up exercises: As long as you keep up routine exercises that they have worked with you on in pt, you should maintain both our mobility and your pain free status. Before completing your last sessions of pt, ask the therapist to show you specific therapies you can continue as a home program when they discharge you from their care. Keep active and keep flexible!
