Some risk: All surgeries have certain risks.  In experienced hands the robotic surgeries are as safe, and sometimes safer than the comparable surgery completed as an open procedure.  The robot allows your surgeon to perform a potentially difficult surgery through several small incisions, giving you a quicker and easier recovery.  Good luck with your surgery.

Yes: Done by the right surgeon it is not any less safe than say, laparoscopic surgery. Depending on the specific type of surgery you're asking about it may be preferred. It is not mainstream yet though.

I'm biased: Not the "direct" human touch that i've learned and refined over many years of microsurgical care. My direct visual exposure through my operating microscope allows me instant visual feedback at which time i can make micro adjustments. I personally trained to be a ophthalmic surgeon & i don't want to be replaced by a robotic system, that may eventually replace the skills i've learned over the years-.

Robotic Assistance: Robotic surgery is performed around the world for a variety of surgical diseases. Current devices allow surgeons to place the robotic instruments via small incisions and then control those instruments via a remote control station that gives the surgeon a 3 dimensional view and enhanced dexterity as compared to traditional laparoscopic surgery. The "robot" is completely controlled by the surgeon.

Robotic Surgery: Robotic surgery is an extrapolation of laparoscopic surgery; however, robotic arms and instruments provide an increase range of motion and degrees of freedom.  This allows for more complex procedures to be done via a laparoscopic approach.

Minor discomfort: The benefit of any minimally invasive  surgery is the small incisions necessary to gain access to the abdominal cavity.  Likely the largest incision necessary for a robotic prostatectomy is the incision needed to remove the specimen, no more than an inch or two.

: I think you have terms mixed up. Quadriceps is the muscle on the front of thigh used to kick you foot up when seated on a chair. Maybe you mean robotic surgery that is quadriceps sparing?  Vs a real Dr doing it with out controlling the robot.  All surgical robots are controlled by a Dr. So far.
