i am taking simvastatin + beta blocker in the evening. it was ok, but pravachol (pravastatin) 10 mg + 5 mg amlodipine in the eveninggives nausea, fatigue and muscle pain. any adjustments.?

Change: Ii depends why your regimen changed. Could you go back to the old regimen and take Simvastatin + beta blocker.
Amlodipine can be taken any time of the day.

Adjunct only: You're be foolish to be your life on it. Diet and exercise are your key, but some people do need a statin or other Rx.

When LDL  is high: Simvastatin is a statin drug good to lower LDL (bad) cholesterol.
It is usually given when diet and exercise fail to reduce cholesterol to guideline levels. It is also started when pts have known coronary or cerebral artery disease and the level needs to be controlled faster.

Side effects: The commonest side effects are muscle pain and damage. Rarely rhabdomyolysis, lysis if muscle cells may occur and is a serious issue.  Other side effects include liver damage. Gastro-intestinal disorders like constipation, diarrhea, skin rashes, precipitation of diabetes mellitus and neurologic problems like memory loss.
